Still Growing: A Story in Progress

Reflections on learning, changing, and never quite being “grown up.”

This is a story I’ve been writing—on paper and in life—for many years. It’s about growing, and how that process never really ends.

Welcome to my blog, dear reader, and to my very first post: Still Growing or: a story of growing up.

I began writing this story back at university, during the early years of my Bachelor’s degree. The truth is, it’s still far from finished—and maybe it never will be. But that’s exactly why I chose it as the title for my first published text on my very first website.

The idea of growing up first emerged when my best friend Annika and I were trying to make sense of everything that was happening in our uni days. Over time, it has remained a constant theme in my life. To be honest, life doesn’t feel all that different now. Of course, it’s less carefree—taxes need to be paid, and I’m no longer chasing one wild night out after another—but the sensation of figuring things out, learning as I go, and constantly changing is still with me. And my deepest hope is that this never ends, however frustrating or scary that might sound.

Because really—who truly knows what they’re doing? When do we ever reach that moment where we can say: “Ah, this is it. I’ve made it. I’ve grown up.” (And if you have, please tell me—I’d love to hear about it.)

Not long ago, my friend suggested removing the word up from “growing up.” At this stage of my life, that makes so much sense. Up implies direction—chasing the sun, aiming higher—which can be beautiful, but also unreachable. Growing, without the up, feels different: more grounded, steady, and strong. Growth can happen in any direction. It is open, vast, and free.

My own story of growing has led me to the south of Spain, far from my Northern European roots, into a culture both different and inspiring. It has led me through losing and finding myself, through facing and healing old stories, and through inviting new experiences and adventures.

Everything I’ve lived has shaped who I am today. It has also given me the desire to spark joy and create spaces where others can discover, learn, and grow—through language, through physical experiences, and through emotional connection.

Happy Heart Communication is not the result of “growing up”—but it is the beginning of a new chapter. I feel grateful and excited to share this journey, and to create meaningful moments with anyone who wants to join this unpredictable, beautiful ride we call life. Or, in my words: a story of growing.
